- It is not often that you hear someone with a CA qualification serving in the army.
- Late Colonel Manpreet Singh was an extraordinary exception who quit his career as a CA to serve his country.
Manpreet Singh was born in a rural village in Punjab, India.
He initially pursued Chartered Accountancy.
Coming from a lineage of military service, his heart’s true calling was to serve his homeland as a soldier.
In 2004, after working as a CA for a few years he decided to take a remarkable step toward his aspiration by passing the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination.
It opened doors to the revered Indian Military Academy where he underwent demanding training, emerging as a Lieutenant in 2005.
Manpreet Singh was enlisted in the esteemed 12 Sikh Light Infantry (LI), a highly esteemed and decorated infantry unit within the Indian Army.
In 2021, he received the prestigious Sena Medal for gallantry, for his remarkable bravery and unwavering resolve. This honor was a result of his extraordinary courage during a perilous gunfight, where he fearlessly eliminated two dangerous terrorists.
His exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment ultimately led him to command the distinguished 19 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) battalion deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for counter-insurgency operations.
Tragically, on 13th September 2023, Colonel Manpreet Singh met his martyrdom during a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
He had served in the Indian Army and dedicated himself to the safety of our nation throughout those 17 years.
All the other Chartered Accountants and the whole of India came to mourn his demise and sent heartfelt messages to his family.
We salute him for his unwavering dedication and valor.
May he rest in peace.
