Deloitte recognized as the ‘Middle East Tax Firm of the Year’ by International Tax Review for 2023

  • Not the firm’s first time, as in 2022, Deloitte was recognized as the region-wide winner for Indirect Tax and Tax Firm of the Year by ITR.

Big day for Deloitte Middle East’s Tax team

Deloitte is renowned in the global financial services industry. The Big 4 firm Has claimed its place worldwide because of its excellence in audit, tax, consulting, and financial advisory.

On 28th September 2023, Deloitte Middle East (DME) was acknowledged as the Middle East Tax Firm of the Year by the International Tax Review. It took place at ITR’s annual Europe, Middle East, and Africa Tax (EMEA) Awards.

The ITR EMEA Awards evaluates firms and organizations based on their performance history in the region, their innovation in tax methods, and their dedication to client service.

This can be seen in activities such as the introduction of new tax offerings, collaborations with other firms and organizations, and efforts to address the needs of clients.

The award is a testament to the strong quality of Deloitte’s Middle East tax practice and the vision, clarity, assurance to its clients, and Deloitte’s commitment to supporting businesses through the ongoing tax reform in the region.

In addition to Deloitte Middle East’s achievement, Hadeel Biyari, an Indirect Tax Partner in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was awarded the Tax Litigation and Disputes Rising Star.

Going back in history

Deloitte’s journey in the Middle East began with the establishment of an office in Cairo, Egypt in 1926.

The office primarily focused on providing audit and tax services to clients in the country.

Over the years, Deloitte expanded its operations in the Middle East to meet the growing demand for professional services, serving clients in various industries, including finance, energy, and healthcare.

Deloitte’s presence in the Middle East has contributed to the advancements and growth of the professional services industry in the region.

Expansion in the Middle East  

Deloitte has a presence in 15 Middle Eastern countries, with 27 offices and more than 5,000 partners, directors, and staff.

Here are the countries in the Middle East where Deloitte has established its offices:

  • United Arab Emirates (UAE): Dubai and Abu Dhabi
  • Saudi Arabia: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar (Dhahran).
  • Qatar: Doha.
  • Bahrain: Manama.
  • Kuwait: Kuwait City.
  • Oman: Muscat.
  • Jordan: Amman.
  • Lebanon: Beirut.
  • Egypt: Cairo.
  • Iraq: Baghdad.
  • Cyprus
  • Palestine
  • Yemen

Previous accolades…

This is not the first time that Deloitte has obtained an award for its excellence in the Middle East.

The Big 4 firm also won the 18th annual ITR Europe, Middle East, & Africa Tax Awards.

Deloitte was recognized as the region-wide winner for Indirect Tax and Tax Firm of the Year, in 2022, achieving widespread success.

Additionally, Deloitte Ranked No.1 Worldwide by Gartner in 2023.

Deloitte has been ranked the world’s leading consulting firm by revenue for the sixth consecutive year and the eleventh time overall, according to the Gartner Market Share Analysis: Consulting Services, Worldwide, 2022 report, released in June 2023.
