Background
Vaibhav Taneja is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
According to his LinkedIn profile, he qualified as a CA in 2000 and is a graduate of Delhi University.
He commenced his professional career with the renowned ‘Big Four’ firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in India. 2003 he joined PwC’s US office in San Jose, California. His stint with PwC spanned almost 17 years, concluding in March 2016.
Subsequently, Vaibhav joined SolarCity, a solar energy company in San Mateo, California, as the Vice President for Accounting Operations.
His journey with Tesla started in 2017 following SolarCity’s acquisition by the multinational automotive corporation.
Over time, he was promoted to Corporate Controller, and in 2019, he assumed the position of Chief Accounting Officer at Tesla.
As of August 2023, Tesla has a market cap of $791.67 Billion. This makes Tesla the world’s 9th most valuable company by market cap.
