Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently wrapped up his highly anticipated three-day visit to the United States.
On Sunday, 22nd September, he held a key roundtable meeting with top CEOs from sectors like semiconductors, electronics, and biotechnology, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The event not only highlighted India’s increasing potential but also strengthened strategic ties between the country’s government and leading tech industry figures.

Nvidia’s collaborations across India
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, emphasized,
“AI truly democratizes computing, and this is India’s moment.”
He highlighted the immense potential of AI and the opportunity for collaboration with India, stating, “AI is a new industry, and I am looking forward to partnering with India in a deep way.
The discussions also highlighted significant progress since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 14, 2023.
The MoU titled “Enhancing Innovation Ecosystems through an Innovation Handshake” was signed between India and the United States.
The MoU aimed to,
- Link the dynamic startup ecosystems of both countries
- Tackle specific regulatory challenges to collaboration
- Share information and best practices for startup fundraising
- And promote innovation and job creation, particularly in critical and emerging technologies (CET)
Startup economy and AI infrastructure
- India’s Startup Economy: India ranks as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally.
- AI Infrastructure Importance: Strong AI infrastructure is essential to support the growing number of AI-based startups.
- Nvidia’s Collaboration: Nvidia is partnering with Yotta Data Services to increase its GPU capacity.
- Capacity Expansion: The goal is to expand GPU capacity to 32,768 units by 2025, addressing the rising demand for AI-driven workloads.
Google’s strategic investments in India’s AI landscape
- Sundar Pichai’s Remarks: After the meeting, Sundar Pichai highlighted the synergy between Google’s initiatives and India’s technological goals.
- Investment in AI: Pichai stated, “We are proud to partner with India. We are making significant investments in AI here and are eager to do more.”
- Current Initiatives: Several programs and partnerships are already in progress to enhance collaboration.
- Support for Local Production: Prime Minister Modi encouraged Google to continue designing and manufacturing in India, specifically mentioning the production of Pixel phones.
- Alignment with Digital India Vision: This initiative aligns seamlessly with the broader Digital India vision.
