As the Founder and Managing Partner of Guru & Jana Chartered Accountants, I have seen the firm go from struggling to growing significantly over the years.
For the first 8 years, despite working tirelessly for 12 to 13 hours a day, we grew to a team of 50, of which 40 were article assistants.
And now, we have a team of 650+ members, with close to 180 chartered accountants, cost accountants, company secretaries, ACCAs, and a fantastic team of lawyers.
Our approach to scaling the firm has been rooted in fostering collaboration, targeting the right clients, and continuously improving our internal processes.
Shifting Mindsets
From Me to Us: Early on, I realized the importance of shifting our focus from individual achievements to a team effort. This change in mindset helped us work together more effectively and paved the way for growth.
Targeting Larger Clients: We decided to focus on working with private limited companies rather than individuals. This strategic decision allowed us to take on more complex projects and better meet the needs of our clients.
Building a Strong Foundation
Turning Inward: We concentrated on refining our internal processes and emphasizing ethical practices. This focus on quality not only attracted reputable clients but also strengthened our reputation in the industry.
Management Insights: My experience studying management at IIM Bangalore provided me with valuable knowledge on building a strong organization and team, which I applied to Guru & Jana.
