  • Rarely do we witness milestones as extraordinary as this.
  • In July 2023, CA Parvathaneni Santosh Kumar Brahmayya (P.S. Kumar) completed a remarkable 49-year journey with Brahmayya & Co., one of the oldest and most prestigious firms in India.
  • He also celebrated 50 years as a Chartered Accountant this year.

Recalling his early days

P.S. Kumar qualified as a Chartered Accountant, from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) in 1973.

After a year, he returned to India and joined Brahmayya & Co., a professional services firm established in 1932, as a Partner.

Reflecting on his illustrious career, he proudly shares that he has devoted 49 years to Brahmayya & Co., making it a lifelong commitment to a single job.

In 2023 he also completed an impressive milestone of 50 years as a Chartered Accountant.

He took to LinkedIn to show his heartfelt gratitude to everyone wishing him on this joyous milestone.

Reflecting on his 49 years of experience with Brahmayya & Co.

When contemplating 49 years of experience, P.S. Kumar mentioned that it has been a roller coaster ride with its share of ups and downs.

He prefers to gauge his progress not solely by the years but by the strides he has made in his professional evolution.

P.S. Kumar believes that with age comes the refinement of soft skills and a shift towards an advisory role.

Having dedicated nearly five decades to a learned profession, he believes the true measure of one’s growth as a professional lies in the number of developmental steps taken.

And in his case, he has climbed six or seven significant steps over those 49 years.

“All I can say is that a person is lucky if he or she has enthusiasm for work and curiosity for learning new things.” he wrote.

Books that made an impact on his life

While addressing the books that made a huge impact on him, P.S. Kumar mentioned the ‘Peter Principle’, which was created by Canadian School Teacher Laurence J. Peter in 1960.

Additionally, he remembers the work of Cyril Northcote Parkinson, a British author.

P.S. Kumar has in the past served as a Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and as President of the Andhra Chamber of Commerce.

He regularly writes blog posts on taxation, accounting, and other allied matters, which you can find here – https://pskumarsite.wordpress.com/

We at The Finance Story congratulate him on achieving this milestone.
